As a fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers…yes, both the band and the vegetable (actually a fruit), it’s interesting to see all the recent attention about increasing metabolism. While Flea’s incredible bass licks and John Frusciante funk jazz style can get you “amped up”, I’m talking about the focus on Capsaicin found in hot peppers.
While the notion of consuming peppers is a HOT topic today, (pun intended) scientific studies indicate that the actual component of pepper which has a thermogenic property is capsaicin. Results suggests that capsaicin increases energy expenditure after a meal containing pepper appeared only immediately after the meal ingested and also noted increases in carbohydrate oxidation …however it does not increase total energy resulting in increases in metabolism
Capsaicin which is a component of HOT peppers increases thermogenesis...internal body temp...
Does not equate to increase metabolism...
Quantity used in studies could not be consumed in amounts needed
